OUR STORY

In the early 1940s, J.O. Alvarez Sr., at just 19, began his journey in customs brokerage as a dispatcher in Laredo, TX. After serving in World War II, he returned, earned his U.S. Customs Broker license in 1957, and established J.O. Alvarez Co. Known for his dedication, integrity, and warm personality, Mr. Alvarez built strong alliances and lasting friendships with U.S. Customs officials, Mexican Customs Brokers, and industry leaders.

In the 1970s, the second generation joined the business, each earning their own Customs Broker licenses. In 1981, the company was rebranded as J.O. Alvarez, Inc., moved to a larger facility in 1982, and expanded operations along the U.S.-Mexico border, including an additional 140,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space.
Following Mr. Alvarez’s passing in 2000, his family continued to honor his legacy by embracing new technologies and expanding operations into Arizona, California, and throughout Mexico, always prioritizing personalized service and client satisfaction.
